Psoriasis: Understanding Long-Term Skin Care
Psoriasis is managed rather than cured. Knowing your pattern helps you treat flares earlier and avoid ineffective home remedies.

Recognising plaque psoriasis
Typical plaques are well defined, raised, and covered with silvery scale. Elbows, knees, scalp, and the lower back are common sites. Nails may pit or thicken. Skin folds can show a shinier, less scaly rash.
It is not contagious. Scale does not mean the skin is dirty.
Why it is a long-term condition
Immune signals speed up skin turnover. Treatment slows that process in the treated area or, for widespread disease, through phototherapy or systemic medicines. Stopping treatment often lets the plaques return.
Throat infections, injury to the skin, smoking, and some medicines can trigger flares. Mention joint pain. Psoriatic arthritis is treated with the help of the appropriate specialist.
Daily care that supports medicine
Emollients soften scale so prescribed creams reach the skin. Medicated shampoos help the scalp when used as directed, left on for the advised time rather than rinsed off like a cosmetic wash.
A dermatologist in Miyapur can judge whether your disease is limited enough for creams or whether you need a different level of care. Strong steroid combinations bought online are a common cause of skin thinning.
